When changes in legislation allowed doctors to create typed rather than handwritten medical prescriptions, GP Dr Frank Pyefinch was frustrated by the lack of software available to support the move. So he turned his hand to writing his own simple, Disk Operating Systems (DOS)-based programs. Twenty years on, his company Best Practice Software is home to BP Premier, a program used by 12,000 GPs across Australia and New Zealand.

A mum at 16, Bernadette Black encountered severe discrimination when attempting to continue her schooling. Not wanting other expecting or parenting teens to encounter the same experiences, Bernadette founded Brave Foundation, a charity that strives to strengthen the family unit and reduce the stigma around teen pregnancy.

Purchasing a 70-acre farm, home to 1,000 sweet chestnut trees, Linda and John Stanley set about implementing a raft of sustainable and regenerative farming techniques to grow a crop that would meet their family's need for fresh, local and organic ingredients.

Anaesthetist, Dr David Reiner, recognised that patients in hospital waiting to undergo surgery were 'hangry', which means being both hungry and angry at the same time.
